9 Tips to run greater miles

Every trucking company is looking for drivers who can do a lot of work safely and reliably. The more miles you drive, the more you will be paid. That’s a goal for every driver.
Let’s dive a little deeper into this and talk about ideas on how to run greater miles.

    1. Think Safety First
We understand how good mileage is everything for you as a truck driver. But safety is more important when the risk of an accident is high.
For example, imagine driving up north in the snowy weather of Canada. The road is frozen, and it feels like you’re ice skating instead of riding. Is your life worth risking for a good mileage?
Try driving through an alternate route or take a break until the weather becomes more favorable.

    2. Relieve stress

Stress is an integral part of truck driving. There’s stress when waiting in traffic, when you can’t find someplace or when you have to back into a tiny spot with no room to work.

We-re going to give you some generic advice but, take a deep breath. Take a couple more. And you’ll notice how relieved you feel. Another way to relieve stress is to do a full-on workout. Have some downtime at your truck stop? Go for a 10-20 minute run. Exercising is the quickest way to relieve stress

    3. Keep yourself fit

Long driving hours can be hard to handle. Sitting for 11 hours a day almost every day is guaranteed to cause lower back pain. You’ll also have an increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease, stroke, etc.
That’s why it’s crucial to get at least a little bit of exercise every day. Whether you are at a truck stop or in the shop for a repair, take that time to do a few push-ups or stretches. It might not seem like much, but it will improve your mileage, mood, and overall work satisfaction.

    4. Choose a great company

A great company provides great miles, therefore a great pay as well. AAA Freight, Inc. is one of the fastest-growing transportation companies in the Midwest, running in all 48 states.

AAA Freight Inc. owns the latest model of dry vans, flatbeds, and reefers, all made for quality work and a living environment.

    6. Address your concerns with your dispatcher

Many problems can come up during those long hour drives. We as humans like to keep everything to ourselves until we just burst out at one moment on our dispatcher.

To avoid such issues, calmly and rationally address your problems with your dispatcher. Your dispatcher will try and understand you better if you calmly talk to him instead of starting arguments.

    7. Stay social

As a truck driver, you spend most of your time in isolation in an 8x8 cabin.

Even if you are someone who likes to spend time alone, it is beneficial to your mental health to stay in touch with your friends and family. Social media has made it possible for us to stay connected to our loved ones, even when we’re not there with them.

Go and contact your family or your closest friends right now. Intern being alone won’t feel so bad, and you’ll get reminded someone cares about you.

    8. Make yourself comfortable

Sometimes driving may become very tiresome and boring.

Most trucks today come with built-in inverters. In it, you can plug in most household items.

So next time you are at home, remember to bring with you a few household appliances such as a microwave, mini TV, a Playstation and don’t forget some speakers to play some music while you’re driving.

    9. Bring your partner or pet

Here at AAA Freight Inc., we have a policy that allows you to bring your pet or another person with you. Having a companion with you can ease your workdays and make you feel fulfilled.

Transport is a competitive industry. For higher mileage, you have to compete with your fellow drivers. Be confident and professional if you want to earn your place at the top, and make sure to follow these 9 steps for success.
